The other day I was playing one of those “Words with friends” iPhone games with a friend of mine who happens to live across the bay from where I live. We were discussing good food and recipes and she had commented that her mother made a great Brown Sugar Penuche, and well me being me I asked how about sending me the recipe.
Well it wasn’t a day later and she emailed it to me. I loved this recipe so much and plan on making it that I wanted to post it here for you all to try. I haven’t made it yet I will admit but don’t worry I am going to and quick too!
I sent her an email and she told me it was okay with her, so here you go without hesitation and procrastination is Ireckon2’s Mom’s Fudge Penuche, enjoy!
Oh and btw, if you play "Word's With Friends" on the iPhone feel free to add me my name is billyctv and that's only if you want too, yes I'm hooked on that game, lol!
Brown Sugar Fudge Penuche
The Store Bought Stuff:
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1/4 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup nuts
Putting It All Together:
- Combine sugar milk corn syrup and salt in 2 quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted and sugar is dissolved.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, to 234 degrees on candy thermometer (or until small amount of mixture dropped into cold water forms soft ball.)
- Remove from heat, add butter and cool mixture to 120 degrees without stirring.
- Add vanilla, beat vigorously and continuously 5 to 10 minutes with wooden spoon until candy is thick and no longer glossy.
- Stir in nuts and turn out on plan or wax paper
Thanks again to Ireckon2 for this great recipe and allowing me to post it!
